Laura Turner Seydel, Turner Foundation 

Eco-awareness is a way of life for Laura Turner Seydel. Years of earth-friendly living and community involvement have fueled her desire to “live green.” As a national environmental activist, speaker and eco-living expert, Laura’s mission is to educate families, youth and individuals alike about the opportunities and benefits of earth-friendly living.  As one of the most influential women in the environmental movement today, Laura developed her passion for protecting the environment at an early age. As daughter of CNN founder and philanthropist Ted Turner, she saw firsthand how ecologically devastated many areas of the world are. Her many leadership responsibilities include: Chairman of the Captain Planet Foundation, Co-founder of Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Co-founder of Mothers & Others for Clean Air, Trustee of the Turner Foundation.

 

Ira Blumenthal, Captain Planet

Learn how an executive successfully goes green in his career.  For the past 20 years, highly respected brand and business development expert Ira Blumenthal has counseled world class clients to capitalize on change and extend their brands through strategic alliances. As the founder of the Atlanta-based consulting group, CO-OPPORTUNITIES, Inc., Blumenthal has transformed and counseled international brands such as: The Coca-Cola Company, Nestle, Disney, Marriott, Wal-Mart and Kroger among others. A sought after keynote speaker and author, Blumenthal leads the Captain Planet Foundation's efforts to support environmental projects for youth by building relationships within the environmental, educational and business communities as well as overseeing the Foundation’s grant portfolio. Additionally, he is the author of the popular marketing book, Ready, Blame, Fire! and is the co-author (with Coca-Cola executive Jerry Wilson)  of Managing Brand You, a best seller in the works.

Event location:   75 5th St NW, (Centergy Building - 3rd Floor in the Wayne Hodges Room) Atlanta, GA 30308. 

Transportation: If you are taking Marta Rail Station: Take Rail Line North and Exit the train at the Midtown Station located at 10th Street and West Peachtree Street. Exit on the south side of the station which is on Peachtree Place. The Georgia Tech Trolley makes regular stops there (every 6-8 minutes) and provides free transportation to the campus. The trolley is bright Georgia Tech yellow-- you can't miss it. The first trolley stop is immediately in front of the TSRB Auditorium at 85 - 5th Street. When you exit the trolley, take the walkway alongside Moe's restaurant and Copy Plus, and proceed about 75 feet to the Centergy Building revolving door entrance straight ahead. Return transportaiton to the Midtown Station via the Trolley is free and available immediately across the street from Moe's. The MARTA fare is $1.75 each way. Special Directions based on Detour: I-75 South, Exit (Detour)-16th Street, (follow Detour signs to 14th and 10th) which includes taking a right onto 17th, after crossing over I-75, then take a Right at the first light (Nan restaurant on right hand side) onto Spring Street.  Follow Spring Street until you cross over 14th and then 10th Street. After 10th you will pass the Publix on left, then begin looking to the right for a grassy area and you will see the multi-level Centergy Building parking lot.  Entrance to the building's parking lot is on the right (LA Fitness on the Right as a landmark).  

Parking : There is a Parking garage adjoining the Centergy Building. The parking entrance is on Spring Street, north of the intersection of Spring Street and 5th Street.  Please note there is a fee to park and visitor parking is located on levels 5 and above.  Take the elevator parking deck to Level 5, then exit onto a bridge walkway which leads to a courtyard to Building 75 (the center building facing 5th Street)   Take the elevator to the 3rd Floor and follow signs to Wayne Hodges Conference Room.
